Last year we hosted two talks by Dr Kathy Weston, one of the UK’s leading experts on parental engagement in children’s lives and learning, who spoke about developing resilience among children and helping them learn how to manage challenge and exam pressures. These talks were very well received by our parents; very informative and full of practical tips. This year we have been lucky to secure another talk by Dr Weston and she will give some useful advice around guiding children with their use of technology. This is an area which has many pitfalls for our pupils, some of which have the potential to cause issues for them in the future, and her vast experience and evidence-based ideas should prove to be very useful for all parents.
We would ask that parents/guardians sign up to this webinar as soon as possible.
You are invited to a Zoom webinar. When: Sep 12, 2022 07:30 PM Topic: Parent Webinar: Dr Kathy Weston & Carrickfergus Grammar School, Topic: Screens, Tweens and Teens: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Children in the Digital Age Register in advance for this webinar: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_RqYobgPvTSKIDp2kvevn5g After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
Parents often worry about how much time teens are spending online. How much is too much? What damage (if any) is this time spent at screens doing to their emotional and social development? Do you have anything to worry about? How can you help them harness the positive assets of associating with the digital world? How can you negotiate with them to make sure this happens? We look forward to you joining Dr Weston as she shares a range of evidence-based ideas, tips and resources with parents and carers.
