“Trust in the LORD with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.”

Proverbs 3: 5 & 6

Welcome to the SU area of the school website! Within school there is strong SU, which provides the opportunity to take God forward in our lives - he is our "strength and our song", he "lights up our darkness", and we want to learn more about him with guidance from fellow pupils, staff and guest speakers. We firmly believe that God isn't just for a Sunday in church, but for every day. But it can be hard to let his love show in school, so we want to help you out with that! SU is our time to come together as believers in school. We have fellowship, praise, talks and prayer - and a lot of banter, too!
….So come along and join us, everyone’s welcome!!

Where? When?

Senior SU : Mr Jackson's Room (Room 35) on Tuesdays at Lunchtime

Junior SU : The Lecture Theatre on Wednesdays at lunchtime

There area also other different types of meetings. We have a range of speakers, teachers, pupils and outside organisations which play a role in Su and provide something new every week. Every now and again we come together for joined meetings (juniors and seniors) so keep an ear out for announcements in assembly!

So what's on...?

PRAISE AND GAMES NIGHT

On Tuesday 11th October, from 7-9pm, the SU are having a praise and games night. This should be a great night, packed full of fun and fellowship, with loads to get involved in! There is a £5 donation requested which will help support the two Dalit children that we sponsor in India.

Shine is a brand new initiative organised by both Crown Jesus Ministries and Scripture Union NI. The project hopes to inspire teachers and pupils across the country to pray for our schools, and to motivate them to reach out and share the Good News of Jesus. With over 40 schools taking part, the impact across the country can be massive!

Shine is a 3 week programme:

Week 1: Preparation
Week 2: Prayer
Week 3: Present

This develops into a culmination in Week 3 where each group will do something evangelistic to reach out to their friends in school. This can be anything from a single event to a full mission week, just whatever works best!

If you’d like more information on Shine speak to any of the committee, teachers or have a look on the Shine website: http://www.suni.co.uk/schools/shine.php

HUB is a youth event organised by Crown Jesus Ministries. The heart behind HUB is for young people to HEAR God’s Word, UNDERSTAND His will and BECOME more like Him.

HUB is a 3 week programmer which covers:
Week 1
Learning to watch our words and tame the tongue
Week 2
Learning to value ourselves and those around us
Week 3
Learning to live a life that helps and blesses others

SU Band

SU band meets every Tuesday, after school (3:30-4:30), in the Lecture theatre. All musicians from any year, of any ability, are welcome to come along and join in praising God.

Prayer Meetings

SU Prayer Meetings are held every Tuesday, at lunchtime, in Mr Irwin’s Room (Room 9). There are a huge number of ways to pray, so don’t think it’ll be the traditional “circle prayer,” all the time. Come along and give it a try – you don’t even have to pray if you don’t want to. Prayer is our way of communicating with God and even hearing other peoples’ prayers can give us loads of strength!

The SU Weekend

This year the SU weekend will be 9th – 11th of December in Castlewellan Castle, (near Newcastle). There’ll be everything from ice cream and games to prayer, praise and worship sessions. The weekend is the highlight of the SU year and is definitely not to be missed! For more information speak to any of the SU teachers or the Committee.
